Taking centre stage ahead of the new season is this handcrafted, “Made in Japan” masterpiece, Mizuno have created this Morelia II in a “Blue Depths/Gold” colourway for the start of the 2019/20 season. This is so, so retro and it is great to see old school leather football boots still going strong.

The Morelia II is handcrafted from premium K-leather and carrying the standout out seal of quality that is “Made in Japan” that is stamped on the fold over tongue which feels like have jumped into a time capsule and gone back in time to the days of PES6. Everything about these boots just oozes class, and it feels like the perfect boots for the floppy haired cultured midfielder that just glides around the pitch.

Mizuno have been known to splash a bit of gold on their boots in the past with it last being used on the Rebula and the Morelia. These do feel a bit more authentic and subtle, as if it belongs on the boot, unlike the Morelia that was drowned in gold.

The “Blue Depths/Gold” drop for the Morelia II arrives alongside the new “Beta” Morelia Neo II, and where the latter is likely to be divisive for the football aficionado, the “Blue Depths/Gold” colour delivers something which we think will stand the test of time.

These boots are available now and retail at £260.
